Unveiling of the Jerry Kirk Seminar Room, Royal Free Hospital

After retiring from clinical surgical practice in 1989, Professor Kirk was
appointed an honorary consultant at the Royal Free Hospital and honorary
professor at UCL teaching anatomy, basic surgical skills and essential clinical
insights. As well as being former President of the Surgical Section of
the Royal Society of Medicine, the Medical Society of London and the Hunterian
Society, he was Editor of the Annals of the Royal College of Surgeons and has
also written and edited numerous books for surgeons in training including Basic
Surgical Techniques, Clinical Surgery in General Surgical Operations.
The Division held a drinks reception on 11th November 2013
to celebrate Professor Jerry Kirk’s outstanding contribution in recognition to
surgical teaching both within the Division of Surgery, UCL and the NHS.
The celebration was marked with the unveiling of the newly refurbished seminar
room on the 9th floor at Royal Free to be named after Professor Kirk.
