This page provides information on the support available for students with learning difficulties, disabilities and long-term health conditions.

UCL welcomes applications from disabled students. Our aim is to promote and implement an inclusive learning and teaching environment, allowing students to study as independently as possible during their time at UCL. 

The Student Support and Wellbeing dedicated disability advisers can help make reasonable adjustments to support you if you have disability throuhout your time at UCL. We support students with any of the following:

Guided by you, our advisers can:

  • arrange a visit before you start at UCL to help you assess the suitability of our facilities and to discuss your individual support requirements
  • recommend and liaise with your department regarding reasonable adjustments for teaching and learning
  • help you apply for special exam arrangements
  • assist you with applying for additional funding, such as Disabled Students’ Allowances
  • support you with setting up specialist support workers, such as: study skills tutors, note-takers, etc.
  • signpost you to other support services, both within UCL and external
  • advise you about getting assessed for specific learning difficulties
  • advise you on the use of assistive technology
  • provide information and advice if you are considering an interruption of study for health and/or wellbeing reasons
  • support your return to study following an interruption due to health and/or wellbeing reasons

Drop-in sessions and longer appointments

Drop-in sessions

Our drop-in sessions allow you to speak to an adviser on the day for help and support.

The drop-in sessions are 20 minutes long and focus on helping you find solutions to the issues that are be affecting you. You don’t need to make an appointment just attend between these times:

Longer appointments

Drop-in sessions are suitable for brief enquiries only. If you need support with a more complex issue or enquiry, please contact us to make an appointment.

We offer telephone and face-to-face appointments depending on which you would prefer. Please tell us as much as possible about the issues you’re experiencing when requesting an appointment so we can make sure the right support is there for you.
