As you enter Term 3, Student Support and Wellbeing offer our 'Exam Season Toolkit' as a helping hand to support you with a successful exam season (March, April and May 2024). We invite you to take time out from revision and de-stress. Our Toolkit will help you get ready, get set, and go forth to succeed in your assessments. Be sure to book your spot at these events and activities!

About the karaoke session

Student Support and Wellbeing have joined forces with the UCL Karaoke Society to offer you a free taster session so you can take a break from revision and let your hair down! Whether you're completely new to singing or a complete pro, this friendly taster will provide a welcoming, non-judgmental environment for you to sing a wide range of music you like! During the evening expect to sing along to your favourite tunes, make some new friends and take part in some fun games such as 'Guess the Singer'! Mics will be supplied and karaoke wording will be displayed on a large screen. Please note that this will be a non-alcoholic event.

The benefits of singing and karaoke

Singing is a natural stress management technique that can improve your mental well-being. It’s a form of mindfulness that allows you to live in the moment, letting go of all your worries. Here are a few other reasons to join this karaoke taster session during the exam period:

  • Singing releases endorphins that reduce stress and anxiety.
  • The emotional release you get from singing can be therapeutic, helping you process complex emotions.
  • Singing engages your entire body and improves your breathing pattern. It’s a full-body workout that enhances your overall breathing technique.
  • The diaphragmatic breathing used in singing can also improve your posture and relieve tension. It’s a holistic approach to wellbeing that benefits both your body and mind.
  • Karaoke nights are social events that make it easy to meet new people and enjoy the company of friends and family. The shared experience of singing creates a sense of community and belonging. It’s a fantastic ice-breaker and a unique way to forge new friendships.
  • Above all, karaoke is an absolute blast! It’s about the joy, laughter, and camaraderie that come with it.
