DSD: Software for success: Data analysis & statistical tools (ISSFSDATA)
Course Description:

This is a one hour demonstration session that introduces you to the variety of tools that are available for analysing data for your project, thesis or dissertation. We will look at the advantages and disadvantages of software like SPSS, Stata, R, Python and MATLAB.

The focus will be on choosing the appropriate tool, acquiring the necessary skills and selecting and managing a software platform. We will also look at less commonly considered issues including collaboration and version control, reproducible research and literate data analysis.

Although this is primarily a demonstration students may wish to have a laptop to bookmark the tools we introduce.

IMPORTANT: Please ensure you are using Desktop@UCL or the UCL VPN when booking because you need to be on the UCL network to use the system.

Once you have enrolled, you will need to click on the play button under 'My current enrolments' in My Learning to join at the time of the live session. You will also receive an email from ISD containing the direct joining link a day before the session. Please check your junk folder as these emails are occasionally tagged as spam.

We would encourage those who are new to Blackboard Collaborate/Microsoft Teams to join within the first 15 minutes of the advertised start time in order to test out their connection/audio. The actual session will start on the hour.
