DSD: Software for success: Data analysis & statistical tools
Course Description:

This is a one hour demonstration session that introduces you to the variety of tools that are available for analysing data for your project, thesis or dissertation. We will look at the advantages and disadvantages of software like SPSS, Stata, R, Python and MATLAB.

This is a one-hour demonstration session delivered remotely.

The focus will be on choosing the appropriate tool, acquiring the necessary skills and selecting and managing a software platform. We will also look at less commonly considered issues including collaboration and version control, reproducible research and literate data analysis.

Although this is primarily a demonstration students may wish to have a laptop to bookmark the tools we introduce.

IMPORTANT:

Once you have enrolled, please check that you have received a confirmation email from MyLearning. You will also receive an email with a joining link at least one day before the session.

Courses start on the hour but please join during the 5 minutes prior to this to download resources and test out your connection/audio.

This course is aimed at students and staff who want an overview of the tools that can be used for data analysis to help them make a decision about which one is most suitable for their project.
