DSD: Podcasting made easy - workshop (ISPODC) 
Course Description:

Learn the basics of Podcasting. Use freely available software `Audacity? to record and edit sound files. Find out how to best record your voice, and interview others using Zencastr. Learn how to edit and mix tracks using Audacity, import royalty free music, and add sound effects. Experience how to export your recording as an MP4 or Wav sound file and share online and via Moodle.

Please download the free `Audacity? from the internet before the session. https://www.audacityteam.org/download/

If you are on a UCL computer you can download `Audacity? from the UCL software centre. (At home you need a VPN connection to use the software centre)

Once you have booked on the course you will be able to access all of the online materials in our Digital Skills Development Moodle course.

IMPORTANT:

Please ensure you are using Desktop@UCL or the UCL VPN when booking because you need to be on the UCL network to use the system.

Once you have enrolled, you will need to click on the play button under 'My current enrolments' in My Learning to join at the time of the live session. You will also receive an email from ISD containing the direct joining link a day before the session. Please check your junk folder as these emails are occasionally tagged as spam.

We would encourage those who are new to Blackboard Collaborate/Microsoft Teams to join within the first 15 minutes of the advertised start time in order to test out their connection/audio. The actual session will start on the hour.
Objectives:
By the end of the course you will:

  • Understand what Podcasting is
  • Know the basics of recording editing and mixing tracks in Audacity
  • Know the basics of exporting and sharing your final recording as a .MP4 or wav file
  • Intended Audience:
    This course is aimed at those who want to learn the basics of Podcasting and how to work with simple sound recording, and editing software.
