DSD: Make a short film using your iPhone
Course Description:
Recording and editing videos on mobile phones has become very easy. During this session, you will learn how to film and edit a two-minute film. We will explore the impact of shots including close-up, point of view, etc. You will learn how to successfully record video and how to edit footage, add titles and sound using the 'iMovie' app on an iPhone.

Once you have booked on the course you will be able to access all of the online materials in our Digital Skills Development Moodle course.

This is a 1 hour workshop delivered remotely.


Once you have enrolled, please check that you have received a confirmation email from MyLearning. You will also receive an email with a joining link at least one day before the session.

Courses start on the hour but please join during the 5 minutes prior to this to download resources and test out your connection/audio.

By the end of the course you will:

  • Develop your film making skills
  • Be familiar with the basics of editing in the iMovie app on your phone
  • Experience trimming and splitting clips, adding transitions, titles and audio

    During the session you will have the opportunity to make a very short film about making a cup of tea/coffee.

  • Learn the basics of filming video using an iPhone
  • Try out a simple film-making activity during the session
  • FInd out how to use the iMovie app on their phone to edit and refine their film
