DSD: Mentimeter for Continuous Module Dialogue (CMD)
Course Description:

This course is aimed at staff who wish to learn the basics of Mentimeter and how to use it for Continuous Module Dialogue (CMD). Mentimeter is a powerful online questioning tool that can be used to support student interaction and active learning in both synchronous and asynchronous teaching. UCL is piloting the use of Mentimeter as an informal continuous evaluation tool. UCL has a site license for this tool. Find out more here: Mentimeter Resource Centre.

In this practical workshop you will learn the basics of setting up interactive activities and using the templates on Mentimeter. You will also find out how to embed Mentimeter on a website or a Moodle course and manage student interaction.

Once you have booked on the course you will be able to access all of the online materials in our Digital Skills Development Moodle course.

IMPORTANT:

Once you have enrolled, please check that you have received a confirmation email from MyLearning. You will also receive an email with a joining link at least one day before the session.

Courses start on the hour but please join during the 5 minutes prior to this to download resources and test out your connection/audio.

Objectives:
By the end of the course you will be able to:
  • Understand how to set up word clouds, quizzes and open comments,
  • Facilitate synchronous or asynchronous activities,
  • Embed Mentimeter into Moodle and manage student interaction.
Intended Audience:
This course is particularly aimed at staff who wish to learn the basics of Mentimeter and how to use it to encourage student participation. Students are also welcome to the session.
