Interruptions of Study – New Form
2 December 2019
New form now available for Interruptions of Study for taught students
In June Education Committee approved changes to the regulations and processes concerning interruption of studies for taught students (including MRes students). Implementation is planned for 2020-21 allowing us to put the necessary infrastructure in place to support the new regulations (e.g. workflow in Portico). In the interim, the interruption form has been revised, with more guidance for students, clearer approval stages and an optional box for departments to record details of the academic implications of interruption.
The new form is now available here:
Interrupting or withdrawing from your studies (Student site)
The revised regulations will include interruptions for Flexible-Modular students in their final year of study. Until the new regulations come into place, requests for Suspensions of Regulations on these grounds will be considered. Please contact your Faculty Tutor to make an application.
Flexible-modular students in earlier years of study do not need to formally ‘interrupt’; they can simply not register for modules in a particular year (though they still need to enrol). This gives students continued access to facilities and resources, helping them to manage their studies around their personal and professional commitments.
More details will follow about the roll out of the new regulations for 2020/21 later in the year. In the interim, the new form comes into force with immediate effect.
