For the past 20 years, Management Today has fought for gender equality by starting the annual 35 Women Under 35 list, unearthing new female role models and spotlighting the contribution of Britain’s young women in business and other fields- whose voices were still being largely ignored in the media.

While the main focus is the business sector, there are various sectors represented in this list celebrating and recognising these young women in creating global impact. Oksana features for her work on global health issues as Founder of UCL Fight the Fakes, as well as leading public-private partnerships with a focus on technology in the charity sector and her recent work in the media.

Commenting on Oksana’s inclusion in this year’s list, Professor Duncan Craig, Director of the UCL School of Pharmacy said:
"Oksana contributes to our institution and to society on so many different levels, including her inspiring teaching of the next generation of pharmacists, her advocacy of women in science, her relentless highlighting of the dangers of substandard and falsified medicines through to her frequent television appearances presenting informative and reliable information to the public on the management of Covid 19. I am delighted that she has been recognised by Management Today in this year’s 35 Women Under 35 list.

Oksana founded UCL Fight the Fakes in 2015. It is the first academic chapter of FTF campaign raising public awareness on substandard and falsified medical products while driving research and development of pharmacy curricula in partnership with the World Health Organization, as well as advocating for regulatory reform and policy change in partnership with youth. Her work in this area has become more important now than ever, as fake medical products ranging from test kits to PPE and other commonly prescribed drugs have surged during the pandemic.

Oksana also started an open educational programme on outbreaks of infectious diseases as part of the UCL Global Citizenship Programme in 2015, and throughout the coronavirus pandemic Oksana has served as an energetic ambassador for UCL with over 50 media appearances on BBC, CNBC, LBC, Sky News, Bloomberg, Channel 4, ITV, Manoto news, to name a few, dispelling coronavirus misinformation and sharing key public health messages.

Oksana is also a Global Health Advisor and Trustee of the Commonwealth Pharmacists Association, resident judge for the Mobile World Congress biotechnology awards, Editorial Board Member of the Medicine Access at Point of Care peer reviewed journal, and is curating this year's feature on substandard and falsified medicines.

A role model for our MPharm students and graduates alike, Oksana continues to be a champion for women in STEM and the pharmacy sector. This year on the International Day of Women & Girls in Science, February 11th 2020 she was invited to address Member States and delegates at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, USA.

Congratulations to Oksana on being nominated to the list, this is a testament to her tireless work.
