In-Situ Detectors

The In-Situ Detection Systems group designs detectors for particles, used in studying the physical interaction between the Earth and the Sun and the fundamental physics of space plasmas.

The Detection Systems Group supports MSSL's space instrumentation projects and carries out research and development into the underlying physics of detectors and instrument systems. Most of MSSL's flight hardware projects have been built on a foundation of detector development. The selection of instruments to fly on spacecraft is a highly competitive process and it is essential for MSSL to maintain its position at the forefront of detector technology
