Student testimonial - Giselle Best

Giselle chose the BSc Infection and Immunity after seeing the course leader at an Open Day, and says the programme always ignites her curiosity.

Breadcrumb trail

My name is Giselle and I am studying the BSc Infection and Immunity at UCL. I come from Kent, where I did my A-Levels in Biology, Chemistry, Psychology and Art.

My love for science and medicine was realised following my GCSEs and studying at UCL has further developed this keen interest.

Outside of my studies, I like to pursue my artistic side, attending art galleries and exhibitions in London, alongside creating my own pieces through various media.

I have recently taken up crochet and utilise this as a relaxation technique from the demands of working hard for my degree course.

The BSc Infection and Immunity course has never failed to ignite my curiosity, especially through its combination of engaging, content-rich lectures and exposure to exciting ongoing research.

The shared first year allows you to develop an understanding of the body systems, alongside specialised course-related topics, in preparation for the more in-depth content explored later.

I chose this unique course after attending an open day and experiencing the passion and enthusiasm from the leading professor. These qualities have been echoed throughout the department.

UCL is a great university, offering lots of opportunities, and I am very excited for what the future holds.
