Message from UCLMS EDI Committee about antisemitism

19 May 2021

Whilst the situation in the Middle East is highly emotive, this does not excuse the hateful behaviour that has been occurring towards our Jewish and Israeli students and colleagues.

UCL Main Quad

Dear Students,

We are aware that there has been a recent rise in antisemitic harassment, and unfortunately this is also true on our campus. Whilst the situation in the Middle East is highly emotive, this does not excuse the hateful behaviour that has been occurring towards our Jewish or Israeli students and colleagues.

If any affected students need support, we encourage you to speak to the Student Support team, or your personal tutor. We would also like to remind you that any harassment or abuse towards students is not tolerated, and we encourage you to be vigilant, report any concerning behaviour and also extend your support to your colleagues who may have been affected.

Dr Michael Spence, UCL President and Provost, has also issued a statement to all students regarding these recent events, and has provided reporting and support resources that you may find helpful.

Yours sincerely,

UCLMS EDI Committee Co-Chairs
