Two UCL academics honoured by the Institute of Physics

Professor Chris Kay (London Centre for Nanotechnology at UCL) and Dr Jonathan Breeze (UCL Physics & Astronomy) are among a team of researchers who have been awarded the prestigious Michael Faraday Medal and Prize from the Institute of Physics.

Galaxy evolution pioneer wins major international prize

Professor Richard Ellis (UCL Physics & Astronomy) has been awarded the 2023 Gruber Cosmology Prize for his pioneering work both studying galactic evolution dating to the “cosmic dawn” and designing innovative instruments with which to do so.

Astrophysicist awarded medal for Jupiter and Saturn discoveries

Professor Nick Achilleos (UCL Physics & Astronomy) has been awarded the 2023 Chapman Medal from the Royal Astronomical Society (RAS) for his outstanding work advancing understanding of the magnetic bubbles (magnetospheres) of planets, in particular Jupiter and Saturn.

UCL academic honoured with prestigious IUPAC award

Professor Nguyen T. K. Thanh (UCL Physics & Astronomy) is one of only 12 recipients globally of this year’s Distinguished Women in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering Awards, bestowed by the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC).
