Bursary to involve patients in research opens
27 January 2020
Researchers can now apply for funding to involve patients and the public in their research.
Four starter grants of up to £500 - and one grant of up to £2000 to support innovative work that will have a wider impact on PPI - are available from the National Institute for Health Research UCLH Biomedical Research Centre’s PPI bursary.
And for the first time two grants of up to £300 are available specifically for PhD students to carry out PPI.
Visit the BRC’s PPI bursaries page.
Researchers and PhD students are eligible if they – or the lead researcher for their project – are based at UCL. The deadline for applications is 21 February.
PPI activities need to be completed by 30 April 2021.
Applications are particularly invited from those who plan to involve groups who are currently under-represented in research.
Previous bursary holders have run workshops with patients on what areas to research and how to communicate findings in accessible ways, and worked with patients to develop apps related to their research.
