PPI workshop for researchers

21 June 2012

The Joint Research Office is running a 1-day workshop on 12 July on patient and public involvement (PPI) in biomedical research, with follow up workshops planned for the autumn.

The July workshop is for UCL and UCLH biomedical researchers and provides a practical and realistic introduction to the different ways patients and the public can be actively involved in the research process.

Sessions cover the different stages in which patients can be involved, identifying and addressing barriers to PPI, the kinds of support researchers can access, and how to make sure PPI works for everyone.

Researchers will have the opportunity to work on their own PPI plans. Follow-up workshops are planned for the autumn covering issues such as setting up a patient forum and working with charities and patient organisations.
