Specialists sought for SaBTO committee

The Department of Health is looking to appoint five new members - including a haematologist and a stem cell specialist - to the advisory committee on the safety of blood, tissues and organs, SaBTO.

SaBTO advises health ministers on how to ensure safety of blood, cells, tissues and organs for transfusion or transplantation. Vacancies are for the following experts with a record of achievement at senior level:

  • Haematologist
  • IVF/fertility/stem cell specialist
  • Microbiologist/bacteriologist
  • Patient representative
  • Regenerative medicine specialist

SaBTO meets up to 4 times a year in London and usually holds one open meeting. Additional days me be needed for sub-committee work.

Posts are not remunerated but members can claim allowances for travel and subsistence.

Deadline for applications is 29 August.
