The National Neurosurgical Oncology Unit

The National Neurosurgical Oncology Unit is a clinical and academic unit within the Department of Neurosurgery at the UCLH National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery. It is allied with UCL departments including the UCL Institute of Neurology and The UCL Cancer Institute. The neurosurgeons perform the highest volume of neurosurgical oncological procedures in the UK and are leaders in developing advanced neurosurgical oncology techniques for a range of pathologies including gliomas (glioblastoma, high-grade gliomas and low-grade gliomas), meningiomas, metastases, and complex brain tumours. Our research programme is very active with a focus on new discoveries in tumour biology, neuroscience, technology, and data science including artificial Intelligence. We provide training programmes to develop surgical leaders of the future, from first day registrar to advanced subspecialty level.
