Our Clinical Practice

The page contains information on our clinical practice

We use advanced neuro-surgical oncology approaches to treat the full range of neuro-surgical oncology. We utilize the latest advances including minimally invasive approaches, radiosurgery (gamma knife and proton beam), awake/asleep craniotomies with advanced neuromonitoring, intraoperative MRI, fluroresecent guided resections and more.

The National Neurosurgical Oncology Unit is the largest neurosurgical oncology centre in the UK. The unit places great emphasis on quality and safety, and enjoys an international reputation, receiving many referrals from around the world. We were amongst the first units to be recognised as a Tessa Jowell Centre for Excellence (https://www.tessajowellbraincancermission.org).

The unit offers neurosurgical care and solutions for people living with a range of brain tumours including:

  • Gliomas (glioblastoma, high grade gliomas and low grade gliomas)
  • Meningiomas
  • Intraventricular and pineal tumours
  • Complex tumours of the posterior fossa (including ependymoma and fourth ventricular tumours)
  • Rare tumours and tumour syndromes
  • We also provide a sub-specialist service for teenages and young adults with brain tumours.
