This webinar explored the impact of welfare rights issues on children and families, and how early access to advice can support positive health and social outcomes. We were joined by researchers and practitioners discussing the value of health justice partnerships in maternity and child health settings and showcasing integrated services in East London and Cheshire and Merseyside.

Embedding welfare rights advice in multi-disciplinary care teams

In this webinar, we were joined by specialist welfare rights advisors who are embedded within multi-disciplinary care teams in HIV and mental health settings. The discussion explored their experiences over many years working collaboratively with care team colleagues, and what this can achieve for patients with complex needs.

Sarah Beardon presents results from her PhD research into the implementation of Health-Justice Partnerships across England. The event brought together professionals working in policy and practice, both in health care and welfare rights advice sectors. The seminar was followed by group discussions to inform future action in supporting and developing these partnerships. Watch here

British Academy and Wellcome Trust workshops on Health Justice Partnerships
11 & 13 February 2020
Professor Dame Hazel Genn delivered two workshops on health justice issues. The first workshop focussed on the role of law and legal services in mitigating health inequalities; the second focussed on developing the evidence base for Health Justice Partnerships. Both workshops brought together international experts in the field, as well as UK-based policy and research professionals.
