Muhammad Shaban Chaudhary
Shaban received his primary and secondary education in Pakistan before joining UCL in 2020 where he recently graduated with a BSc in Biodiversity and Conservation. Shaban has served Students’ Union UCL in various capacities including NUS delegate and Director & Student Trustee in tandem with his degree. His passion for sustainability drove him to advocate for and implement a shift of the Union bank from Barclays to Metro Bank in accordance with the ethical and environment friendly criteria.
Shaban has successfully run a mentorship establishment over the past 4 years, paving the way for various students into top tier institutes around the globe, securing approximately 70 Ivy league colleges/Oxbridge admissions and multiple scholarships. Shaban believes, with firm conviction, that education remains a right for all and hopes to advocate for the accessibility of education. This passion prompted Shaban to contest for his current position as Education officer. He would like to advocate for a more diverse and fulfilling student experience through facilitating SU global partnerships engendering more exchange programs to foster student growth and maximize student potential.
Shaban has worked at different scales of policy making from local governance at Camden Council to UNDP sponsored sustainable development programmes equipping him with knowledge of policy at different hierarchical levels. He has also gained governance expertise whilst working at Mayor’s office London for the Mayor’s Entrepreneur Programme in collaboration with Citi foundation.
