With so many neighbourhoods to choose from, deciding where to live during your studies can be overwhelming. Whether you're looking for a convenient place to study, accessible transportation, cheap accommodation, delicious food, etc., we've got you covered. So, let's dive in and discover the top neighbourhoods for students in London!

Bloomsbury

Bloomsbury is the neighbourhood of UCL's main campus, making it a convenient option for students. It's known for its beautiful garden squares, literary histories, and cultural offerings, such as the British Museum and the Bloomsbury Theatre. The British Museum houses a vast collection of artefacts worldwide. Bloomsbury has a range of accommodation options for students, including halls of residence and shared flats. In addition to its cultural attractions, Bloomsbury is a fantastic neighbourhood for foodies, restaurants, cafes, and eateries offering everything from traditional British fare to international cuisine. For those who enjoy shopping, there are plenty of high-end boutiques and independent shops to explore. The neighbourhood is full of grand townhouses, leafy garden squares, and elegant terraces, which give it a unique and charming character. It's definitely a great place to study, live, and explore.

King Cross

King's Cross is a neighbourhood located in the heart of the city, just a short walk from UCL's main campus. Apart from its hustle and bustle, it's known for its excellent transport links - adjacent to St Pancras International and Euston stations. With its impressive Gothic architecture, the nearby St Pancras International Station is a central transportation hub for national and international travel. The neighbourhood boasts several cultural and recreational attractions, such as the British Library, which houses one of the world's largest collections of books, manuscripts, and other items. There are also several parks and green spaces in the area. If you are a Harry Potter fan, Kings Cross station has the most famous secret platform 9 ¾ for transporting students to Hogwarts. The neighbourhood has a mix of modern and traditional architecture, with many new developments complementing the historic buildings in the area. There are also plenty of student accommodation options, including shared flats, student halls, and private rentals.

Stratford

Stratford is a neighbourhood in East London, just a short walk or bus ride from UCL East. Stratford is now considered one of the top neighbourhoods for students in London. The area experienced a significant transformation after playing a crucial role in the 2012 London Olympics and now boasts the massive Westfield Shopping Centre. Its prime location and modern amenities make Stratford a popular destination for local and foreign visitors. It's known for its excellent transport links, including Stratford Station, which provides access to the London Underground, Overground, and National Rail services. Stratford is also home to various cultural and shopping, such as the Westfield Stratford City shopping centre. Although it is located slightly from some of the central neighbourhoods, it offers a plethora of fantastic student areas with the added advantage of affordable rental prices, including purpose-built student accommodation and shared flats.

Kensington

Kensington is an affluent and upscale district in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea in West London. It's known for its stunning architecture, luxurious shopping, and cultural landmarks. Kensington is a must-visit for international students seeking to reside near tourist hotspots. Surrounded by Buckingham Palace and Hyde Park which offers a vibrant and lively atmosphere. One of the most famous attractions in Kensington is Kensington Palace, which has been the residence of many members of the British royal family, including Princess Diana. The palace is open to the public, and visitors can explore the state rooms and gardens. Kensington is also home to a range of museums and galleries. The area is home to some of London's most prestigious shopping destinations. 

Camden

Camden is most well-known for its famous attraction, the Camden Market, a vast collection of vintage clothing, art, and street foods. The area is bustling with a lively music scene, making it a colourful and vibrant atmosphere. It's easily accessible to the rest of the city via the Northern Line. In addition to its alternative culture, Camden has some beautiful parks and green spaces, such as Primrose Hill and Regent's Park. These parks offer stunning city views and are popular for picnics and outdoor activities. University College London is also nearby. Overall, Camden is a great neighbourhood for students who enjoy a bohemian and alternative atmosphere. It's also well-connected to other parts of London, making it a great base for exploring the city.
