Alumni Voices: Another World’s First for UCL - The Global Business School for Health

17 May 2022

UCL Alumnus Simon Hammett (who is also a member of the UCL Global Business School for Health External Advisory Board) reflects upon the opening of the world's first-ever Global Business School for Health.

UCL Bloomsbury Campus

As an alumnus of UCL, I find it inspiring to read about University’s leading academic achievements and breakthrough research, and now in 2022, I am privileged to still be involved with the great work of this institution. UCL recently launched the “Global Business School for Health (GBSH)”, the world’s first business school dedicated to educating the next generation of health and life sciences leaders and innovators. The school is establishing its base at the state-of-the-art facilities on the UCL East campus.

As a member of the GBSH External Advisory Board, I contribute to the development and success of the GBSH in collaboration with a prestigious group of international health and life sciences industry leaders. I have been impressed by the early achievements of the newly appointed academic team driving this unique educational experience.

The GBSH is offering a range of master’s programmes focused on global healthcare management, digital health, entrepreneurship, biotechnology, and pharmaceutical management. The MBA Health is the flagship programme and enables health managers, clinicians, and business specialists to broaden and strengthen their commercial acumen, organisation management and leadership capabilities. The GBSH has a strong sense of purpose and actively encourages applications from exceptional candidates from diverse backgrounds and to facilitate this have a wide range of scholarships and funding options available to help you support your studies.

In recent years we have celebrated the astonishing capacity of the health and life sciences industry to innovate and adapt at pace while witnessing the resilience and vulnerability of our global healthcare systems. What an amazing time for high potential future leaders to learn from that experience, progress their careers, and to re-imagine and deliver the future of healthcare management.

Applications for September 2022 entry are still open for the following:
•    The UCL MBA Health

New programmes launching now for September 2023 entry (applications open October 2022):
•    The Executive MBA Health
