From manufacturing to medicine, STEM (science technology, engineering and mathematics) is fundamental to understanding and exploring the world around us.

At UCL, our STEM research uncovers the complexities of how we live and how we shape what the future might look like.

Following the popularity of Spring into STEM over the past three years, this relaunch will bring 2024's series to live audiences at our brand new UCL East Campus. Each evening of Spring Into STEM 2.0 will feature two TED-style talks by experts, offering interdisciplinary perspectives on the hottest topics in STEM. Our academic hosts will highlight and share their cutting edge knowledge in inspirational formats, perfect for inquisitive young minds.

Whether you're a teacher or supervisor wanting to fan the flame of curiosity in your class or community group by booking them in, or a young scientist aged 15 to 25 on the hunt for deeper insight and to share your passion with others, seize your chance and head to the booking form. Sessions take place once per month from February to July  we're looking forward to meeting you there!

Wednesday 28th February 2024 - Inclusive design: where innovation meets accessibility

What role does inclusive design play in shaping the future of technology? How can engineering contribute to a more equitable society?

Join us for the first of the 2024 Spring into STEM sessions to hear how UCL engineers are supporting inclusive design. February's talks will give different perspectives on the world of inclusive design in engineering — where innovation meets accessibility. You can discover how diverse perspectives and thoughtful design can create solutions that cater to the needs of every individual.

All 2024 Spring into STEM sessions will be underpinned by one of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This month our expert speakers will discuss how Engineering can support SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities.

Speakers: Professor Cathy Holloway (Computer Science) and Dr Michael Woodrow (Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering)
