Finance

These pages provide information for the Public (eg., about donating to UCL, UCL's investment policy etc), for Students (about fees, sources of support etc) and for Staff on services provided by the Finance team, financial policy and procedures, and training and access to UCL's current finance system FIS (Financial Information System).

Finance information for:

The UCL Finance system

  • Most financial transactions are managed within the online system called MyFinance.
  • All UCL staff can input expenses (for items bought for the purpose of teaching, research or other UCL business) through this system, while those with financial and administrative roles use the system to perform a number of financial tasks, such as creating purchase orders, raising invoices, approving expenses, querying transactions, running reports etc. Log in using your UCL username and password.
  • MyFinance - replaces FIS, which should only be used for enquiries and running reports on historical data. You can still log in to FIS using your UCL username and password.
  • Within MyFinance, there is a new reporting system, Axion EPM Reports. Log into this system using your UCL username and password, but prefix the username with uclusers\, eg., uclusers\username.

More information about MyFinance and how to use it as well as details of training are at the MYFinance website. The Finance A-Z pages provide easy access to specific topics at a glance.

Accounts

UCL moved to a newer chart of accounts and financial system in August 2014. There is more information about this project at http://www.ucl.ac.uk/projectabacus. At present, financial transactions operate within two main types of accounts at UCL: departmental accounts (accounts for academic research, departmental running accounts, public engagement activities etc) and Research Project accounts (research grants).
