Independent Data Monitoring Committees play a critical role for any clinical trial. They are usually the only body that sees accumulating, comparative data from the trial. There have been few opportunities for people, particularly clinicians, to gain experience or much hands-on knowledge before being asked to attend as a meeting. This course fills that gap and will answer the question: "What do people who serve on them, report to them or receive reports from them need to know?”

Running virtually, it will be a mix of 3 sessions comprised of discussion, exercises and Q&A, together with pre-recorded lectures to watch between sessions.

This course is aimed at those currently or soon to be involved in Independent Data Monitoring Committees (IDMC). More than 300 people have attended the course with very positive feedback.

Registration

If demand exceeds the number of places, places will be awarded to those who the course presenters believe will benefit most from the course.

Delegates from HIC Countries

This course is free for staff for Units within ICTM (CRUK-CTC, CCTU, MRC CTU at UCL and PRIMENT) although places are limited. Attendees from outside of the ICTM will be required to pay an attendance fee. Fees are based on the attendee's organisation as follows:

  • £90 for attendees from other UCL departments
  • £190 for attendees from other not-for-profit organisations
  • £255 for attendees from for-profit organisations

Delegates from LMIC Countries

Delegates resident in low middle income countries – £85

Delegates resident in low middle income countries and working with CTU trial teams – Free (five place – please ask CTU project lead to email course administrator requesting exemption)

The ICTM CPD Administrator will advise successful applicants of the location and fee payment process.

 Future Courses

There will be another course run in October 2023. Registration for this course will open closer to the course start date.
