Tongxin Chen (tongxin.chen.18@ucl.ac.uk)

Tongxin Chen, is a PhD student at SpaceTimeLab, Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering, University College London. His research interests include urban mobility analytics, spatio-temporal data analysis, crime mapping and applied machine learning.

Mustafa_Can_Ozkan
Mustafa Can Ozkan (mustafa.ozkan.18@ucl.ac.uk)

I have a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and I hold an MSc degree in transport from Imperial College London and University College London. My MSc dissertation was about Low-Dimensional traffic estimation utilising a time-delayed model.

Currently, I focus on graph neural networks and reinforcement learning to model changes in the structure of transport and wireless networks. My research interests are intelligent transport systems, autonomous vehicles, UAVs networks, machine learning and network science.

xiaowei_gao
Xiaowei Gao (xiaowei.gao.20@ucl.ac.uk)

Xiaowei GAO received the B.Eng. degree in Nautical Science and the master’s degree in transport information engineering and control from Dalian Maritime University, China, in 2014 and 2017, respectively. He also got another master’s degree in Data Science from King's College London, the UK in 2020.

In 2020, Xiaowei joined the SpaceTimeLab as a PhD candidate, supervised by Dr James Haworths and Dr Huanfa CHEN(from CASA, UCL). His research interests include spatial-temporal data mining, urban computing on cycling related mobility, data fusion techniques, and bicycle share systems.

xianghui_zhang
Xianghui Zhang (xianghui.zhang.20@ucl.ac.uk)

Xianghui Zhang, is a PhD student at SpaceTimeLab, Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering, University College London. His research interests lie in sustainable mobility, transportation planning and optimisation, space-time analysis.

zhengxiang_shi
Zhengxiang Shi (zhengxiang.shi.19@ucl.ac.uk)

My research interests lie in the area of machine learning, particularly in spatial language understanding and conversational systems. I focus on improving common-sense reasoning in conversational agents by equipping them with abilities to infer and understand spatial relations in natural language

meihui_wang
Meihui Wang (meihui.wang.20@ucl.ac.uk)

My research interests include Spatio-temporal data analysis and mining, urban analytics, street-level data analysis,  image processing, and machine learning. I am now focusing on machine learning-based visual urban walkability estimation using Street View Imagery.

I hold a BEng in Survey engineering from Chulalongkorn University, Thailand, and an MSc in Applied GIS from the University of Sheffield, UK. For a year, I worked with Intelligence Transportation System (ITS) Lab, Thailand's National Electronics and Computer Technology Center (NECTEC).

My research interests lie in Geoinformatics, Urban Mobilities and ITS, particularly for Smart cities. I focus on analysing and modelling traffic incidents in Thailand using Spatio-temporal analysis and Machine learning.

xiao_fu
Xiao Fu (xiao.fu.20@ucl.ac.uk)

My research interests lie in machine learning (both theory and practice) and conversational information retrieval. I am now focusing on the evaluation of conversational search systems through users’ simulations.

xinglei_wang
Xinglei Wang (xinglei.wang.21@ucl.ac.uk)

My research interests currently focusing on: (1) intellegent decision making using reinforcement learning techniques, and (2) machine learning on graph structured data and its real-world applications in transportation networks, social networks and so on.  Also have strong intersts in natural language processing and web development.

Academic Collaborators

The following staff have close ties with SpaceTimeLab, and work in either CEGE or associated UCL Departments. Many co-supervise our PhD students, or they are Co-Investigators in our projects.

Advisors

Advisors offer support, supervision and advice to students and researchers working in the SpaceTimeLab

Honorary Members

Honorary members comprise former PhD students and post-doctoral research associates who now maintain close links with the SpaceTimeLab.

Visiting Researchers

Every year the UCL SpaceTimeLab is happy to host a small number of outstanding visiting researchers and doctoral students. We especially welcome those who closely share our research interests of big-data analytics and network complexity. If you are appointed, you will work closely with members of the SpaceTimeLab to develop a research plan which will be mutually beneficial. In order to make the most effective use of your time with us, we recommend that plans are made well before your visit, typically several months in advance.

For more information, please see the UCL website: https://www.ucl.ac.uk/multidisciplinary-and-intercultural-inquiry/affiliate-academics or contact Prof Tao Cheng (tao.cheng@ucl.ac.uk

Prospective visiting research students should visit the UCL International Students website for more information.
