What was the aim of your project?
The aim of the project was to create a student guide on assessments.
What did you do?
The project involved the following steps:
- An initial review of UCL’s existing and scattered material on assessment
- Data collection from focus groups with undergraduate and postgraduate students
- Analysis of the major issues voiced by students
- Creating a three-page guide to address the experiences and preoccupations of students
What were the main successes of the project?
The project went quite smoothly and the guide turned out fun, colourful and (hopefully) helpful.
What difficulties did you face during your project? What would you do differently?
Concerning my guide, I think everything went according to plan so I wouldn't change anything. However, we suffered a lack of coordination with the feedback guide. In other projects of this kind, I would set defined deadlines in order to ensure better coordination and mutual support.
What impact has your project had? On whom?
I hope that my project will help students to view the assessment process not as a race towards the best grade but as a rich learning experience through which students can discover their capacities, limits, strengths and weaknesses.
