Funding and financial support

There are a range of resources and services available to help you explore funding options.

  • For advice on funding, take a look at the UCL Financial Assistance page, for guidance on doctoral fellowships, scholarships and prizes and details of the Financial Assistance Fund
  • As a UCL student, you can also make use of the Alternative Guide to Postgraduate Funding Online, an external resource available free to UCL students. You can access it by registering with your UCL email address
  • Search for funding to view a range of guides on funding for postgraduate study and research.You can browse a range of guides and search tools to help you explore funding options for postgraduate study and research
  • Students' Union UCL Rights & Advice also offer one-to-one appointments with student advisers where you can discuss financial support while studying.

Studying outside the UK

Many of the sites and resources suggested will focus on UK-based study. For those looking to study overseas, more specific resources are available. UCL Study Abroad Office

The Study Abroad team primarily exists to support and promote study abroad opportunities for UCL undergraduate students who are considering, preparing for, or undertaking, a study abroad placement. However, the resources and advice they provide may also be useful to those considering further study overseas following completion of their current degree programme.

Come to an event

  • Career Essentials Programme (repeated throughout the year): A series of Careers Consultant led talks aimed at all students and recent graduates which includes sessions on Considering a Masters and Finding and funding a PhD, amongst other topics.
  • UCL Graduate Open Days: If you are interested in continuing your studies at UCL, then attending Open Days can be extremely valuable in helping you make an informed choice about pursuing further study.
  • You will also find listings of other University Open Days through similar prospectus / admissions pages of universities you are interested in where you can meet course providers and discuss your options.
