Join the UCL Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose in discussion with our very own Visiting Professor of Practice, Ian Hogarth, and Nathan Benaich from Air Street Capital, as they present the landmark report, State of AI 2020, talking about the realities of AI investment and development and providing an understanding into AI’s future trajectories
This event is free.
AI is quickly becoming the defining general-purpose technology of the early 21st century. As interest and investment grow, countries and companies need to ground AI’s promise in the reality of trends in its development, deployment, and diffusion. Where are technical developments coming from? What is the role of the military? Is AI really as “open source” as the field claims? Who is set to gain the most and how are nations thinking about the risks of falling behind?
UCL Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose presents Nathan Benaich and Ian Hogarth on the third edition of their landmark report, the State of AI report 2020. Showing the realities of AI investment and development, from its technical revolutions to the politicization of AI innovation, the report provides a broad survey to help understand AI’s future trajectories.
This talk will be chaired by IIPP Director Mariana Mazzucato in conversation with the report authors, Ian Hogarth (IIPP) and Nathan Benaich (Air Street Capital), alongside Tim O’Reilly (IIPP) and Azeem Azhar (Exponential View).
