23 June 2021

Now exam season is over, you may be wondering which activities are available to enjoy in London. UCL student Katie Davies shares her recommendations.

10 Ways to make the most of London post-exams

Whether you’re looking for activities to do with friends and family, the best places to eat and drink, or even how to sightsee on a budget, I’ve got you covered.

Here’s everything you need to know for making the most of London this summer.

1. Watch the sunset at Primrose Hill

If you want to get the best view of a London sunset, Primrose Hill is the place to go.

It’s also the perfect activity for a sunny day. Make sure to grab a picnic and bring some speakers, and you’re all set.

2. Get the best view of London at the Sky Garden

Known for the best views in London, the Sky Garden is free of charge on weekdays between 10am-6pm.

Make sure you book in advance to avoid any disappointment.

If you’re feeling like spending, try out the City Garden Bar for drinking and dining.

3. Try a board game café

Breakaway from your screens at a board game café.

Grab a drink or food and play some of your favourite games with friends.

Try out Draughts in Waterloo or The Board Game Cave if you’re happy to travel a bit further out.

4. Visit an art gallery

There are so many galleries in London.

The best part? With a £5 Student Art Pass, you can get discounts on entry and exhibitions.

5. Eat cake at Crumbs & Doilies

Located in the heart of Soho, Crumbs & Doilies has the best cakes, cupcakes, and brownies around.

With a myriad of options of freshly baked goods, you won’t be disappointed.

6. Find a spot to watch the Euros

Support England or get a taste of home and cheer on your country.

Book a table in a pub garden and watch your favourite teams play.

7. Have a go at an escape room

This is the perfect activity for a rainy day. Go with a group of 4 to 6 and attempt to break out using clues.

London has so many different themed rooms, so make a choice as to what suits you best.

8. Somerset House

Right in central London, Somerset House has something for everyone.

Try out their open-air ‘Drink, Dine and Dodgems’, or visit the gallery.

9. Float-In Boat Cinema

Love watching films? Love boats? Try the Float-In™ Boat Cinema.

They’re showing a range of films, so there’s something for everyone on offer.

10. Try open water swimming

Missing a holiday abroad with a pool? Why not try open water swimming instead?

Visit the infamous Hampstead Heath Ponds and book your slot. Paired with a picnic, this is a dreamy sunny day out.
