UCL Division of Medicine

UCL Division of Medicine within the Faculty of Medical Sciences forms one of the largest concentrations of biomedical scientists in Europe. We bring together clinicians and scientists undertaking world-leading research, teaching, and patient care.

The faculty boasts 130 principal investigators, including five Fellows of the Royal Society, 15 members of the Academy of Medical Sciences and three Senior Investigators of the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR).

Our aims

  • Educate, train, and inspire the next generation of scientists and clinicians.
  • Be at the international forefront of biomedical research from lab bench to bedside.
  • Attract, retain, and develop the most gifted biomedical researchers and teachers.
  • Develop and deliver outstanding patient care with UCL's partner hospitals.

Our clinical mission is to provide the highest quality medical care, as practitioners of medicine and leaders of the NHS, and to work in partnership with patients to fulfil our research and teaching missions. Our clinical academics act as physicians in partner hospitals, with programmes of national and international standing in major medical specialities.
