Support and wellbeing

You said 

  • Quarantine and self-isolation can be very difficult, and you'd like more support to help you look after your mental health and wellbeing at this time. 

We did 

  • The Student Support & Wellbeing team listened to feedback from the Students' Union Sabbatical Officers and introduced new events such as guided mindfulness and exercise sessions. 

You said

  • UCL's approach to student mental health and wellbeing is disjointed.  

We did

  • The Student Health and Wellbeing Strategy was introduced in 2019. The strategy has six main objectives, including the adoption of a whole-university approach and establishing closer links with the NHS. 

You said

  • Mental health and wellbeing support for UCL students can take a long time to access. 

We did

  • UCL's Student Psychological and Counselling Services (SPCS) have used extra funding to hire extra term-time counsellors.
     
  • There is now a specialist therapist allocated each day to assist students in urgent need. 
     
  • SPCS simplified their registration form to make the services more accessible.
