Enhancing UCL researchers’ understanding of the application of key physiological techniques

28 June 2023

On 22 June, nearly 50 participants attended the Seminar organised by the UCL Therapeutic Innovation Networks (TINs) – Regenerative Medicine.

Key Physiological Techniques for the Regenerative Medicine field and beyond

During the seminar a range of physiological techniques were discussed to explore how cellular, tissue and organ functionality could be tested and used to shed light on pathological mechanisms and enable therapeutic development. The speakers explained the advantages, limitations and potential applications of intracellular and extracellular electrophysiology, organ bath contractility, and other imaging modalities with specific reference to various biological contexts including neurological disorders, neurosurgery, cardiac and gut regeneration.

Speakers from GenScript and Cairn Research provided valuable industry insights and addressed participants' questions regarding these techniques.

The seminar was an opportunity to highlight expertise and capabilities available at UCL and explore ways to facilitate knowledge sharing across UCL departments.

Through organising this seminar, the TIN aim to make a significant impact by inspiring researchers to incorporate these techniques into their future work and fostering new collaborations.

This event was organized by Dr. Conor McCann and the Regenerative Medicines Therapeutic Innovation Networks (TINs), with the support of UCL Translational Research Office and NIHR Great Ormond Street Hospital Biomedical Research Centre - The Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine theme.
