Talking about science to non-scientists helps our confidence and fluency of communication and clarity of thought. If you can't explain your project to a ten year old, is it because you don't understand it properly yourself? We believe public engagement is an essential part of our scientific development and training and of course, benefits our audience and hopefully motivates interest in science by licensing curiosity.
