There are many professional development opportunities at UCL and not all can be listed in our events calendar.

Face-to-face events are listed in our events calendar.

These are events that are either bespoke or accessible online all year round and could support you in developing your educational practice.

Online professional development and other courses related to education

 

Digital skills development for staff and students

ISD offer face-to-face training in areas such as data analysis, programming, desktop applications, UCL business systems and more, plus individual support through drop ins and online learning opportunities.


Arena Digital Course (in Moodle)

To support and complement your UCL Arena Fellowship Application and CMALT (accreditation scheme by the Association for Learning Technology), UCL's portfolio in e-learning. Comprised of three units, each lasting two weeks, it covers:

  • using multimedia in Moodle; 
  • using Moodle to communicate with students; and 
  • how Moodle can help with assessment and feedback.

Accessible Teaching Practices: Providing Access to All using Universal Design for Learning (in Moodle)

A three hour online course that will show you how you can create accessible learning environments that support students with learning difficulties, disabilities and long-term health conditions. 


Introduction to research supervision

This online course is mandatory for all members of academic staff wishing to be appointed as research supervisors at UCL, including new members of academic staff with experience of research supervision at other institutions. 

On completion of the course, you will be able to download a certificate of completion, and be eligible to join the face-to-face session, 'Developing as a UCL Supervisor'.

Experienced UCL supervisors may also find the course useful as a refresher and central resource containing information, guidance and links to relevant policies and materials.
