Digital accessibility and you: where are you now and where could you be? 9 Nov (hybrid)

Digital accessibility ‘provides ramps and lifts into information’. It includes ensuring all information we create at UCL can be seamlessly consumed by everyone that wishes to access it. But what does this mean for your practice?  

This workshop is designed to raise awareness of what digital accessibility means and what a UCL approach to digital accessibility requires us to know and to do. In this practical workshop we will seek feedback from attendees about using a pilot tool that the presenters have been developing which will also enable delegates to position themselves in an evolving framework and make informed decisions about what to do next.  

The session will allow attendees to use the Accessibility Engagement Tool to discuss their accessibility engagement and get clear direction on what they can do to further improve the accessibility of their teaching. The goal is to enable colleagues to set some clear digital accessibility goals irrespective of their starting point. 

This workshop will:

• Raise awareness of UCL’s new digital accessibility policy and ways in which colleagues can realise the goals and requirements in a supportive and developmental environment 
• Offer opportunity to use an in-development personal accessibility engagement/ awareness tool and to discuss issues and implications arising 

After attending this session you will be able to:

• Make informed decisions about their own accessibility awareness, behaviours and professional development needs 
• Better support all of their students and colleagues to fully engage with the information sources they create

Anyone producing digital materials for colleagues, students or a wider audience whether they are for teaching, research of general communications.
