Nicole Brown is delivering this session, which is open to all staff at UCL. 

In this session you will hear outcomes from the Ableism in Academic conference, which aimed to raise awareness of chronic illnesses and disabilities within academia.

You will learn practical ideas to make UCL a more inclusive environment.  

This workshop will:

  • present findings from research and conference, and;
  • demonstrate practical methods to make your events and teaching more accessible 

After attending this session you will

  • understand how to make minor changes to increase the accessibility of your own events and teaching 
  • be able to incorporate practical methods to your own practice 

Who should attend

You should attend if you are a member of UCL staff who interacts with students.  

About the Speaker

Nicole Brown SFHEA

Lecturer in Education at UCL

Nicole is a Lecturer in Education and Academic Head of Learning and Teaching at the UCL Institute of Education. Nicole has worked as a secondary teacher of modern foreign languages and taught English and French in Austria and German and French in the UK, prior to moving to higher education.

Nicole's research focus on the advancement of learning and teaching and ways of improving knowledge and she is interested in creating an inclusive environment for all.
