UCL Arena Centre are delivering this session, open to all staff at UCL staff who want an introduction to researching their teaching practice.  

Pedagogic research, Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL), is an established field of academic discourse, involving carefully investigating your teaching practice and in turn developing the curriculum. 

SoTL can improve education locally and is listed in the Academic Careers Framework criteria. 

This workshop will:

  • introduce you to the approach to SoTL research, and; 
  • showcase examples of education research at UCL, which contributed to successful promotion applications  

After attending this session you will

  • learn how to research your teaching 
  • know how to connect research and education 
  • understand ways in which research improves education
  • gain insight into the process for senior promotion (education-focused) 

Who should attend

UCL staff, from early career educators to leaders will find this session a useful introduction.

Presenter Information

This session is delivered by UCL Arena Centre's Dr Brent Carnell (SFHEA). 

Brent is a Principal Teaching Fellow who leads on enabling the UCL Connected Curriculum – UCL’s distinct approach to research-based education.  Brent also supports education enhancement in The Bartlett Faculty of the Built Environment.
