The recycling system can only cope with a small amount of contamination (wrong materials, food or liquid).

Food waste and organic material is sent to anaerobic digestion for fuel; our recycling is sorted and handled in Kent and what’s left and can’t be recycled is recovered for energy in Avonmouth.
Meeting our goal of recycling 85% would save 1,811 tonnes of material: that’s about 151 double decker buses! If recycling one drinks can saves enough energy to power a TV for 4 hours, imagine how much energy and carbon we can save together by recycling 151 double decker buses’ worth of material?
