Course Description:

Journal publication is the key yardstick for assessing an academic career, especially during the 5 -yearly Research Excellence Framework assessment. Without a guide, it can seem an intimidating course of stacked hurdles.

An experienced editor and writer who has guided many researchers through the process cuts through complexities to the underlying important factors.

This session will cover:

  • Choosing your journal
  • Writing and formatting your paper in a journal-friendly way
  • Dealing with reviewers? and editors? critiques and suggestions
  • Post publication strategy: social and mainstream media

Objectives:

By the end of this course you will be able to:

  • Negotiate finding an appropriate journal
  • Tailor your paper to stand the best chance of publication
  • Develop your own effective drafting process
  • Develop a confident publication strategy
