DSD: Word tips and tricks
Course Description:

This one-hour session will demonstrate 30+ quick tips, tricks and shortcuts in Word that aim to make your word processing work easier and more efficient. There will be something here for everyone. Users of all Word for Windows and Macintosh versions are welcome.

This is a one-hour demonstration session delivered remotely

Once you have booked on the course you will be able to access all of the online materials in our Digital Skills Development Moodle course.

IMPORTANT:

Once you have enrolled, please check that you have received a confirmation email from MyLearning. You will also receive an email with a joining link at least one day before the session.

Courses start on the hour but please join during the 5 minutes prior to this to download resources and test out your connection/audio.

Objectives:
Tips covered include:
  • 10+ ways to select text,
  • the repeat command (helps with formatting),
  • inserting various horizontal line types,
  • tips for reducing scrolling,
  • hiding (collapsing) text for a chapter,
  • the use of the navigation pane,
  • keyboard shortcuts, e.g. line spacing, alignment,
  • formatting headings using styles,
  • creating and managing a table of contents in seconds,
  • bookmarking files with a pushpin,
  • synonyms shortcut,
  • adding your favourite commands to the quick access toolbar
  • cycling through all open Word files.
  • use Styles to format headings, help you create tables or contents and make your documents more accessible.

This course is aimed at those wishing to become more efficient and productive Word users.
