DSD: Filming advice for a short film (ISFASF) 
Course Description:

This session will cover the process of filming a short video. Using the equipment you have available we will practice filming techniques. We will think through key issues and develop strategies to make the best film possible with the equipment you have.

IMPORTANT:

Please ensure you are using Desktop@UCL or the UCL VPN when booking because you need to be on the UCL network to use the system.

Once you have enrolled, you will need to click on the play button under 'My current enrolments' in My Learning to join at the time of the live session. You will also receive an email from ISD containing the direct joining link a day before the session. Please check your junk folder as these emails are occasionally tagged as spam.

We would encourage those who are new to Blackboard Collaborate to join within the first 15 minutes of the advertised start time in order to test out their connection/audio. The actual session will start on the hour.
Objectives:
By the end of the session you will be familiar with:
  • Looking at simple equipment options and audio recording
  • Revisiting storyboarding and exploring creative shot options
  • Explaining some basic film rules eg 180 rule, rule of thirds
  • Film location considerations permissions, lighting, and sound quality
  • An opportunity to try out some filming techniques during the session
