• If you use MyHR or MyFinance, you will already have a training profile to enrol.
• For all other users, please wait for five minutes after selecting enrol and do not refresh your page. A training profile will be created for you. After this, future enrolments will be quicker.

Radiation Protection Supervisor (Ionising Radiations)
Course Description: This one-day classroom based course provides Radiation Protection Supervisors with the necessary knowledge of the principles of radiation protection, applicable legislation and their implementation through the UCL radiation management system. This course also provides the information on the UCL Operators Procedures (OPs) to enable them to supervise the safe and compliant use of ionising radiations in their departments. It is also suitable for RPS that are due refresher training. The following online training must be completed before attendance on the course. Course Prerequisites: RPS - sealed sources: must complete the eLearning Principles of radiation safety RPS - unsealed sources: must complete the eLearning Principles of radiation safety and must be familiar with the SHURS training content. RPS - X-rays: must complete the eLearning Basic x-ray Physics and Safe use of x-rays RPS - X-ray and radioactive materials (sealed or unsealed): must complete the eLearning Principles of radiation safety and Basic x-ray Physics and Safe use of x-rays During the course, we will expect you to be able to recall the course content. Therefore, if you completed the eLearning a while ago, please refresh.
Objectives: This training course will provide Radiation Protection Supervisors with the following information. Refresher on radiation basics Roles and responsibilities of the RPS, as well as other radiation roles The Radiation Management system and the UCL Operators Procedures (OPs) and their implementation within departments, including: Registration and Radiation Risk Assessments Local rules and written departmental procedures Best Available Technique Designation Checks and maintenance Monitoring Vacating areas Management of radiation workers and dosimetry Waste management Incident management
Intended Audience: UCL Radiation Protection Supervisors (RPS) covering x-rays, sealed and unsealed sources. Appointed RPS and those looking to be appointed. RPS requiring refresher training.
