Safe Use of Abrasive Wheels
Course Description:
We are pleased to offer you this half day course, in Safe Use of Abrasive Wheels training. Please note timing will be AM or PM.


The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations requires that all persons using, supervising and managing work equipment must receive adequate training for the purposes of health. The regulations require that abrasive wheels must be mounted and dressed by a competent person.

This course is a practical session and you will be required to bring your own Personal Protective Equipment in the form of safety glasses, boots/shoes and gloves.

Please note refreshments will not be supplied, however you can bring along your own take away coffee.
Objectives:
On completion of this practical course, you will have gained an understanding of the legal requirements and be able to mount and balance abrasive wheels safely.

The course will cover the following elements:

  • Introduction to Health & Safety Law
  • Hazards arising from the use of abrasive wheels and the methods and precautions to take
  • Marking, storing, handling, and transporting
  • The functions of abrasive wheels components, methods of inspecting, mounting and testing, dressing and balancing and adjustments of abrasive wheels including adjustments of rests
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Intended Audience:
Staff who select, mount, adjust and use abrasive wheels.
