Akosua joined the IAS Fringe Centre at its launch in October 2015.
Akosua completed her BA in philosophy at Heythrop College, University of London, graduating with First Class Honours. She joined UCL in 2009 to complete a research masters in philosophy, supported by the AHRC. Supervised by Professor Lucy O’Brien, Akosua submitted her MPhil.Stud thesis in May 2011 entitled, “The Role of Negative Self-Evaluation in an Experience of Shame.”
Akosua returned to UCL in 2012 to complete a PhD in Philosophy. Her PhD is generously supported by the Follett Trust and UCL’s Graduate Research Scholarship. The working title of her PhD thesis is “Social Dimensions of Shame.” Supervised by Dr. Sarah Richmond, the thesis argues for a particular variety of the social theory of shame.
