Assessment Durations for Resits and Deferrals

The regulations state that students with deferrals or reassessments should be assessed according to the assessment method in place at the time of the original assessment/first attempt. 

However, it has been agreed by Education Committee that in cases where the assessment pattern for a module has changed in 2021/22, in line with this year’s Assessment Operating Model, the assessment pattern for 2021/22 may apply for trailing reassessments where the department considers it appropriate without the need to seek individual approval. 

For centrally timetabled assessments, it would be helpful if ELOs could advise the Central Assessment Team which assessment method they intend to use for their resit candidates in all cases where the current assessment pattern differs from that from previous years.
