Late Summer Assessments (LSA)

7 August 2020

Information on the LSA for Deferred Candidates

Examination Period 24 August – 11 September

The LSA exam timetable includes those assessments that were assessed as a 24 hour timed online exam during the Main 2020 examination period, for students who have deferred only.  Finalist and PGT resits will be held in January, and resits for continuing students will take place during the main examination period next summer.

The timetable was released to candidates via email on Tuesday 28th July and is also available for them to view via Portico.

Other Assessment (deferred students)

Departments should advise students of the dates and deadlines for all other deferred assessments. Wherever possible the deadlines set should be outside of the examination period.  Where this cannot be avoided, deadlines must not be set for 12:00 or 15:00 as this will impact the submission load on Moodle.   It is essential that there are no departmental quizzes set during the examination period.

Moodle Set Up

The LSA exams will be set up on the 2019/20 version of Moodle.  It is essential that you make sure any students who attended the modules in a previous academic session have been added to the relevant 2019/20 Moodle page for each exam that they are expected to take.

As and when the relevant exam pages are set up the Exams Team will advise the ELO for a final check before the examination period. We will be limiting the access within Moodle so that only students who are in the LSA timetable will be able to view the question paper.

Please ensure that the Moodle pages are not amended or altered in any way. If any edits are required or additional candidates emerge, then the relevant amendments must be carried out by the Exams Office.

Mark Entry

Week commencing 17 August 2020 mark entry will re-open on Portico to allow the entering of any deferral or other re-assessments that may have taken place.

Marks will be confirmed via the normal procedure, however it is essential to ensure that the 'Progression Calculation and Confirmation' task in Portico is used to finalise the student's new progression status. When selecting the students on Portico, you must select the LSA period to ensure only the relevant students are displayed.

Following this, the student record will be then be updated to enable the student to re-enrol or to be awarded their degree outcome.
