The report explores the student experience in higher education alongside institutional arrangements, from the perspective of current and former care-experienced students, to encourage, or discourage, care-experienced students to follow their chosen study programme.

The project has drawn upon a review of widening participation literature, a survey of higher education institutional arrangements and services and participatory approaches employed with current and former university students who were care-experienced to explore university life. Working together, researchers and participants analysed data, co-creating core narratives which reflected lived experiences.

We will be joined by the project team, Professor Claire Cameron, Hanan Hauari and Katie Hollingworth who will discuss the key findings of the research, as well as showcasing film and podcast content from the project. As part of the event, we are excited to host a collaborative participatory arts performance from The Verbatim Project, as well as a Q&A session with care-experienced young people.
