Delay to Early Module Registration Roll-Out

7 November 2019

Learn more about the revised approach and new timelines

Following feedback from the academic community and discussion with key stakeholders, the UCL-wide introduction of early module registration for continuing students will be delayed until the end of term two 2021 for the 2021/2022 academic session.

The reasons for this are:

  • To provide more time for the departments to work with the lifecycle team to improve the quality of module and programme diet data
  • To provide the opportunity to run a pilot of early module registration in March 2020 for the 2020/2021 academic session with a small number of students and learn lessons from it
  • To allow more time to plan and co-ordinate the benefits of early module registration on downstream processes such as rooming

The new timelines for 2020/2021 module registration will be as follows:

  • Early August 2020 – new postgraduate and affiliate student module registration once students have pre-enrolled
  • Mid-August 2020 – continuing student module registration once students have re-enrolled (except pilot students)
  • Late August 2020 – new undergraduate student module registration once students have pre-enrolled

In order to gather some information around your experiences of Programme Diet set up and Module Registration we have designed a short survey to inform how we approach planning to resolve the issues for the next academic year. Please provide your feedback by 20 November.

Thank you for your continued involvement and patience as we try to improve Portico and the experiences for both students and staff.

Please continue to keep an eye on Academic Services newsletter for further updates.
