Programme Changes, Interruptions and Module Selection

Key information for Programme Changes, Interruptions and Module Selection

When will students currently on interruption be invited to choose their modules?

If students have some outstanding assessments to take from before their interruption (i.e. first attempt resits) and are attending other modules after the interruption which relate to the same year of study, these are automatically updated and added to the student record and they do not need to take part in 2023/24 continuing student module selection from 3 April to 12 May 2023.

If they are due back from interruption up to 12 May 2023 and are returning in 2023/24 to take their next full year of study, they will be invited to take part in module selection from 3 April to 12 May 2023.

If they are due back from interruption after 12 May 2023, they will be invited to select from 17 July or departments can add in the Departmental Student Module Amend if they wish.

A student has received the email about module selection for 2023/24 but they are interrupting their studies for 2023/24 so won't be here. What should they do?

Please ensure the student has submitted their interruption application. Once it's approved, the student will be notified of its approval and any module selections for 2023/24 will be removed.

A student is changing programme next year. What should they do in terms of module selection?

Students who applied for a programme change and have no outstanding conditions (i.e. visa implications) will be placed on the diet of the new programme for continuing student module selection. Student Records will try to process as many of these as possible. If any programme change has not been done, we suggest students select from their current programme if that is available to them. If students have not been asked to select or their diet is incorrect as the programme change has not been done, please assist them in adding their selections on Portico via the Departmental Student Amend task or use your Student Records and SLT Enquiry Log for assistance. Students who have requested a programme change with visa requirements will not be actioned until visa approval is given.

A student is changing route next year. What should they do in terms of module selection?

Students with route changes will be placed on the new diet for the new route for continuing student module selection providing that faculty approval is given for the change. Where it has not been possible to update students onto their new route, we suggest students select from their current programme if that is available to them. If students have not been asked to select or their diet is incorrect as the route change has not been done, please assist them in adding their selections on Portico via the Departmental Student Amend task or use your Student Records and SLT Enquiry Log for assistance.
